Responsibilities
- Operate and maintain city-owned equipment (mowers, trucks, jackhammers, etc.) for infrastructure projects
- Perform manual labor including digging, paving, debris removal, and landscape maintenance
- Adhere to OSHA safety protocols and inspect equipment before/daily use
- Assist in emergency response for weather-related public works incidents
- Collaborate with crew members to complete projects efficiently and on schedule
- Complete daily maintenance logs and equipment reports
- Participate in training for new equipment and safety procedures
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent required
- Valid Louisiana driver's license with clean record
- Ability to lift 50+ lbs and perform physically demanding tasks in outdoor conditions
- Basic mechanical aptitude and willingness to operate provided machinery
- Strong commitment to workplace safety and following protocols
- Ability to work flexible hours including weekends during emergencies
- Previous construction or public works experience preferred
- Pass pre-employment background check and drug screening
