Responsibilities
- Operate and maintain heavy equipment including excavators, backhoes, and dump trucks safely and efficiently
- Perform manual labor including digging, lifting, carrying materials, and operating hand/power tools
- Assist in construction and maintenance of roads, sidewalks, drainage systems, and public facilities
- Follow strict safety protocols and OSHA standards to prevent workplace accidents
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to meet project deadlines and quality standards
- Document daily work activities and maintain equipment in optimal condition
- Respond to emergency public works situations as needed
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent; vocational training in construction preferred
- Minimum 1 year experience in construction, landscaping, or public works
- Valid Oregon driver's license with clean driving record
- Ability to lift up to 75 pounds and perform physically demanding tasks in all weather conditions
- OSHA 10-hour construction certification or willingness to obtain within 30 days
- Strong teamwork skills and ability to follow verbal/written instructions
- Basic knowledge of construction materials and safety procedures
