Responsibilities
- Assist in the construction, maintenance, and repair of city roads, sidewalks, and public spaces.
- Operate heavy machinery and hand tools, including jackhammers, rollers, and excavators, under supervision.
- Perform traffic control duties, including setting up cones, signs, and flagging operations.
- Load and unload construction materials, tools, and equipment at job sites.
- Assist in grading, paving, and concrete work to ensure high-quality finishes.
- Maintain a clean and safe work environment by adhering to all safety protocols and OSHA regulations.
- Respond to emergency public works requests and weather-related infrastructure repairs.
Qualifications
- Valid Driver's License (Class A or B preferred) and a clean driving record.
- Physical ability to perform manual labor, including lifting heavy objects (up to 50 lbs) and working in various weather conditions.
- High School Diploma or GED equivalent.
- Previous experience in construction, landscaping, or public works is a plus but not required.
- Basic knowledge of construction safety standards and site protocols.
- Ability to work independently as well as part of a team.
