Responsibilities
- Maintenance & Repair: Perform routine maintenance, repair, and cleaning of city streets, sidewalks, and public facilities.
- Equipment Operation: Operate and assist with the operation of heavy machinery, including dump trucks, asphalt pavers, and jackhammers.
- Landscaping & Grounds: Assist in the planting, trimming, and removal of trees and vegetation in public parks and right-of-ways.
- Drainage & Sanitation: Clear storm drains, catch basins, and assist in flood control efforts during inclement weather.
- Material Handling: Load and unload construction materials, tools, and equipment safely and efficiently.
- Safety Compliance: Adhere to all OSHA safety standards and city protocols to ensure a safe work environment.
- Public Interaction: Interact professionally with citizens and other city employees during daily operations.
Qualifications
- Education: High School Diploma or GED equivalent required.
- Experience: Previous experience in construction, landscaping, or public works is preferred but not mandatory; on-the-job training provided.
- Physical Requirements: Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs repeatedly, stand for extended periods, and work in various weather conditions.
- Driver's License: Valid Florida Driver's License (Class E) with a good driving record.
- Skills: Basic knowledge of hand and power tools is a plus.
- Availability: Must be available to work overtime, weekends, and holidays as needed for emergency response or peak season work.
- Drug Screen: Must pass a pre-employment drug screening and background check.
