Responsibilities
- Perform manual labor tasks such as paving, patching, sweeping, and line painting on city streets.
- Operate heavy equipment, including dump trucks, backhoes, and loaders, under direct supervision.
- Assist in the installation, maintenance, and repair of storm drains, water mains, and sewer lines.
- Load and unload construction materials, tools, and equipment safely and efficiently.
- Maintain a clean and organized work site while strictly adhering to OSHA safety standards.
- Respond to emergency maintenance calls and weather-related infrastructure repairs.
- Communicate effectively with supervisors and fellow crew members on job sites.
Qualifications
- High School Diploma or GED equivalent is required.
- Valid Virginia Driver's License with a clean driving record.
- Physical stamina to perform heavy lifting, standing for long periods, and working outdoors in all weather conditions.
- Basic knowledge of construction equipment or public works operations is a plus but not required.
- Ability to pass a pre-employment drug screen and criminal background check.
- Must be available for shift work and potential overtime during inclement weather.
