Responsibilities
- Perform manual labor tasks including excavation, grading, and concrete work on city infrastructure projects
- Operate heavy machinery (e.g., backhoes, dump trucks) with proper safety protocols
- Conduct routine inspections of public works facilities and document findings via remote reporting
- Assist in emergency response activities during severe weather events
- Maintain accurate digital records of work progress and materials using city-provided remote systems
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams through virtual planning meetings
- Ensure compliance with OSHA safety standards and city regulations
Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED equivalent required
- Valid Texas Class A or B Commercial Driver's License (CDL)
- Minimum 2 years experience in construction/public works or related field
- Ability to lift 50+ pounds and perform physically demanding tasks
- Proficient in digital documentation tools (e.g., Google Workspace, Microsoft 365)
- OSHA 10-hour construction certification preferred
- Ability to work flexible schedules including weekends/emergencies
- Strong problem-solving skills with remote collaboration experience
