Responsibilities
- Perform manual labor tasks including digging, lifting, carrying, and operating hand/power tools
- Assist in construction, maintenance, and repair of public facilities, roads, and parks
- Operate light machinery (e.g., jackhammers, saws, compactors) following safety protocols
- Set up work zones, traffic control devices, and safety barriers
- Load/unload materials and maintain clean, organized job sites
- Perform routine inspections and report infrastructure issues
- Adhere to OSHA regulations and departmental safety standards
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent required
- Valid California driver's license with clean record
- Ability to lift 50+ pounds and perform physically demanding tasks
- Experience with construction tools, landscaping, or public works preferred
- OSHA 10-hour construction certification (or willingness to obtain)
- Ability to work in all weather conditions and outdoor environments
- Basic math skills for measurements and material calculations
- Strong commitment to safety and teamwork
