As a Public Works Laborer, you'll work outdoors in diverse weather conditions, operate heavy machinery, and contribute to projects ranging from road maintenance to park development. No two days are the same in this hands-on role serving Plano residents.
Responsibilities
- Perform manual labor including excavation, grading, and material handling for infrastructure projects
- Operate light machinery such as jackhammers, saws, and pneumatic tools safely and efficiently
- Maintain and repair sidewalks, curbs, storm drains, and public facilities
- Assist in traffic control and safety zone setup during construction activities
- Conduct routine inspections and report maintenance needs to supervisors
- Follow OSHA safety protocols and maintain clean work sites
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent required
- Valid Texas Driver's License with clean driving record
- OSHA 10-hour construction certification preferred
- Ability to lift 50+ pounds and work in extreme weather conditions
- Basic knowledge of construction tools and equipment operation
- Ability to pass pre-employment physical and drug screening
- 1+ years of construction or public works experience preferred
