Job Summary
The Public Works Laborer is responsible for performing general labor duties to support the maintenance and construction of city infrastructure. This includes operating equipment, assisting with road repairs, and ensuring public safety.
Responsibilities
- Perform general labor duties such as digging, paving, patching, and sweeping roads.
- Operate light to medium heavy equipment including dump trucks, backhoes, and pavement breakers.
- Assist with traffic control, flagging, and sign maintenance.
- Respond to emergency call-outs for weather-related maintenance (snow and ice removal).
- Maintain a clean and safe work environment in compliance with OSHA regulations.
- Inspect and report on infrastructure conditions to supervisors.
- Load and unload construction materials and equipment.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED equivalent.
- Valid Texas Class C Driver's License with a good driving record.
- Ability to pass a pre-employment drug screen and background check.
- Physical ability to perform heavy manual labor, including lifting up to 50 lbs and working in various weather conditions.
- Basic knowledge of construction and maintenance equipment is a plus.
- Must be 18 years of age or older.
