Responsibilities
- Perform general labor duties including sweeping, cleaning, and maintaining public streets, alleys, and rights-of-way.
- Operate and maintain light to heavy-duty equipment such as dump trucks, loaders, and pavement breakers.
- Assist with snow and ice removal operations during winter months to ensure public safety.
- Assist in the repair and maintenance of public infrastructure, including pothole patching and drainage work.
- Follow all safety protocols and OSHA guidelines strictly to maintain a hazard-free work zone.
- Interact professionally with the public, city officials, and other department personnel.
- Perform basic maintenance on tools and equipment as directed by supervisors.
Qualifications
- High School Diploma or GED equivalent required.
- Valid Kentucky Driver’s License (CDL Class A or B preferred but not always required for entry-level labor).
- Physical ability to perform strenuous manual labor, including lifting up to 50 lbs, bending, and working in various weather conditions.
- Basic knowledge of construction or maintenance tools and equipment is a plus.
- Ability to follow verbal and written instructions effectively.
- Must pass a pre-employment drug screen and criminal background check.
