Responsibilities
- Perform manual labor including excavation, trenching, and site preparation for public infrastructure projects
- Operate heavy machinery safely: backhoes, forklifts, and asphalt compactors (training provided)
- Maintain public spaces: park landscaping, street repairs, and storm drain maintenance
- Follow OSHA safety protocols and maintain job site cleanliness
- Assist skilled tradespersons with material handling and equipment setup
- Document work progress and complete daily activity reports
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent required
- Valid California Driver's License with clean record
- Ability to lift 50+ pounds and work in extreme weather conditions
- OSHA 10-hour construction certification (or obtain within 30 days)
- Experience with hand/power tools and construction materials
- Pass pre-employment physical and background check
- Preferred: 1+ years public works or construction experience
