Responsibilities
- Perform manual labor including excavation, grading, and material handling for municipal infrastructure projects
- Operate heavy machinery (backhoes, loaders) and hand tools safely and efficiently
- Conduct routine inspections of public works sites and report maintenance needs
- Assist in emergency response operations for weather-related incidents
- Maintain clean and organized work zones following OSHA and city safety protocols
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to project timelines and quality standards
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent required
- Valid Maryland Class C driver's license with clean driving record
- Minimum 1 year construction or public works experience preferred
- OSHA 10-hour construction certification or ability to obtain within 30 days
- Ability to lift 50+ pounds and work in extreme weather conditions
- Basic knowledge of hand/power tools and heavy equipment operation
- Pass pre-employment physical and background screening
