Responsibilities
- Perform street maintenance including pothole repairs, signage installation, and pavement marking
- Operate heavy machinery (snow plows, graders, backhoes) for seasonal operations
- Assist in park maintenance including landscaping, playground repairs, and tree pruning
- Respond to emergency weather events (snow, ice storms, flooding) with 24/7 on-call rotations
- Conduct daily equipment inspections and minor maintenance tasks
- Collaborate with cross-departmental teams for infrastructure projects
Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED equivalent required
- Valid Massachusetts Driver's License (Class B or higher preferred)
- 1+ years of construction or public works experience
- OSHA 10-hour construction certification or ability to obtain within 90 days
- Ability to lift 50+ pounds and work in extreme weather conditions
- Basic knowledge of heavy equipment operation (training provided)
- Must pass pre-employment physical and background check
