Responsibilities
- Perform heavy manual labor on public infrastructure projects including road construction, drainage systems, and park facilities
- Operate and maintain heavy machinery including excavators, asphalt rollers, and dump trucks with proper certification
- Execute safety protocols for confined spaces, trenching, and hazardous material handling
- Conduct daily equipment inspections and preventive maintenance procedures
- Collaborate with engineering teams to implement project specifications and blueprints
- Manage material inventory and waste disposal in compliance with environmental regulations
- Respond to emergency public works incidents during off-hours on rotational basis
Qualifications
- Valid California Class C Driver's License with clean driving record
- OSHA 10/30 certification or ability to obtain within 30 days of hire
- Minimum 2 years experience in municipal construction or public works
- Ability to lift 75+ pounds and perform strenuous physical activity in extreme weather
- Proficiency with heavy equipment including backhoes, loaders, and compactors
- Knowledge of Cal/OSHA safety standards and traffic control procedures
- High school diploma or equivalent with vocational training in civil construction
- Ability to work flexible schedule including nights, weekends, and holidays
