Responsibilities
- Operate and maintain heavy equipment (backhoes, graders, dump trucks) for construction and maintenance projects
- Perform manual labor including excavation, grading, paving, and storm drain installation
- Assist in roadway repairs, traffic signal maintenance, and snow/ice removal operations
- Conduct routine inspections of public infrastructure and report hazards
- Adhere to strict safety protocols and OSHA regulations on all job sites
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to meet project deadlines and quality standards
Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED equivalent required
- Valid North Carolina driver's license with clean driving record
- Minimum 1 year experience in construction, maintenance, or related field
- Ability to lift 50+ pounds and perform physically demanding tasks in all weather conditions
- Basic knowledge of hand tools and power equipment operation
- OSHA 10-hour construction certification preferred
- Ability to pass pre-employment physical and drug screening
