Responsibilities
- Perform manual labor for street maintenance, drainage systems, and park infrastructure projects
- Operate light equipment (e.g., jackhammers, tampers, small excavators) under supervision
- Assist skilled tradesmen with concrete work, asphalt patching, and utility installations
- Maintain job site safety protocols and PPE usage standards
- Load/unload construction materials and maintain organized tool inventory
- Participate in emergency response operations during severe weather events
- Complete daily equipment inspection reports and maintenance logs
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent (GED accepted)
- Valid Arizona driver's license with clean driving record
- Ability to lift 50+ pounds repeatedly and work in extreme temperatures
- Pass pre-employment physical and drug screening
- Basic math skills for material calculations
- OSHA 10-hour construction certification (or obtain within 30 days)
- Willingness to work flexible shifts including weekends during emergencies
- Reside within 30 miles of Mesa for on-call response times
