Responsibilities
- Operate light machinery and hand tools for construction/maintenance projects
- Perform manual labor including excavation, paving, and landscaping
- Conduct routine inspections of public infrastructure (roads, drains, parks)
- Assist in emergency response during severe weather events
- Maintain clean, safe job sites following OSHA standards
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams on city improvement initiatives
- Complete daily equipment maintenance and safety checks
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent (GED accepted)
- Valid Tennessee driver's license (Class C minimum)
- Ability to lift 50+ pounds repeatedly and work in all weather conditions
- Pass pre-employment physical and drug screening
- Basic mechanical aptitude and tool knowledge
- Commitment to workplace safety protocols
- Willingness to obtain required certifications (provided by city)
- Ability to stand/walk 8+ hours per day
