Responsibilities
- Perform heavy manual labor including excavation, grading, and paving operations
- Operate and maintain heavy machinery (backhoes, loaders, dump trucks) safely
- Install and repair public infrastructure including sidewalks, drainage systems, and traffic signals
- Ensure compliance with OSHA safety standards and municipal regulations
- Assist in emergency response during natural disasters or public safety incidents
- Maintain accurate records of materials, equipment, and project progress
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams on large-scale civic improvement projects
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent required
- Valid California Class C Driver's License with clean driving record
- OSHA 10-hour construction certification preferred
- Minimum 2 years of experience in civil construction or public works
- Ability to lift 50+ pounds and perform physically demanding tasks
- Proficiency in operating heavy equipment (backhoe, loader, roller)
- Strong commitment to workplace safety and environmental stewardship
- Must pass pre-employment physical and background check
