About the Role:
You'll work hands-on to maintain and enhance Corpus Christi's public infrastructure—from waterfront parks to storm drainage systems. This physically active role requires teamwork, safety consciousness, and a commitment to community service. Training provided for specialized equipment operation.
Responsibilities
- Perform manual labor including excavation, grading, and material handling for public infrastructure projects
- Operate light machinery (backhoes, compactors, saws) under supervision with OSHA-compliant protocols
- Assist in road maintenance, sidewalk repairs, and drainage system upkeep across city properties
- Conduct daily safety inspections of tools/equipment and report hazards immediately
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to meet project deadlines and quality standards
- Maintain clean, organized job sites and proper waste disposal procedures
- Participate in emergency response operations during severe weather events
Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED equivalent
- Valid Texas Class C Driver's License with clean record
- Ability to lift 50+ pounds and perform physically demanding tasks in outdoor conditions
- OSHA 10-hour construction certification (or willingness to obtain within 30 days)
- Basic knowledge of hand/power tools and construction materials
- Ability to pass pre-employment physical and background check
- Preferred: 1+ years construction/maintenance experience or relevant trade certification
- Must be US citizen or authorized to work in the US
