Responsibilities
- Perform street maintenance including pothole repairs, sidewalk cleaning, and snow removal
- Operate light equipment (mowers, sweepers, dump trucks) and hand tools safely
- Assist in sanitation operations including trash/recycling collection and waste site management
- Support park maintenance and green space beautification projects
- Respond to weather emergencies (floods, storms) for critical infrastructure repairs
- Follow OSHA safety protocols and maintain equipment maintenance logs
- Collaborate with cross-departmental teams for coordinated city projects
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent required
- Valid Michigan driver's license with clean driving record
- Ability to lift 50+ pounds and perform physically demanding tasks in all weather conditions
- Basic mechanical aptitude and equipment operation experience preferred
- Pass background check and pre-employment physical
- Ability to work rotating shifts including weekends/holidays
- Previous municipal or construction experience a plus
- Certifications in equipment operation or hazardous materials handling desirable
