Responsibilities
- Perform routine maintenance on streets, sidewalks, and public facilities
- Operate heavy machinery including dump trucks, graders, and trenchers
- Assist in stormwater drainage system inspections and repairs
- Support park beautification projects including landscaping and equipment maintenance
- Ensure compliance with OSHA safety protocols and municipal standards
- Respond to emergency weather-related public works requests
- Document work activities and maintain equipment logs
- Collaborate with cross-departmental teams on infrastructure projects
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent required
- Valid Kansas driver's license with clean driving record
- Minimum 2 years experience in construction/public works
- OSHA 10-hour construction certification preferred
- Ability to lift 50+ lbs and perform strenuous physical labor
- Basic equipment operation skills (backhoes, forklifts)
- Strong problem-solving and communication abilities
- Willingness to work flexible hours including weekends/emergencies
