Responsibilities
- Operate heavy machinery (excavators, dump trucks, graders) for construction/maintenance projects
- Perform manual labor including digging, paving, and debris removal
- Conduct routine inspections of public infrastructure (roads, sidewalks, drainage systems)
- Adhere to strict safety protocols and OSHA standards
- Collaborate with crew members to execute daily project goals
- Assist in emergency storm response and disaster recovery efforts
- Maintain accurate work logs and equipment maintenance records
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent required
- Valid North Carolina driver's license with clean record
- OSHA 10-hour construction certification preferred
- Minimum 2 years heavy equipment operation experience
- Ability to lift up to 75 pounds repeatedly
- Basic mechanical knowledge for equipment troubleshooting
- Strong teamwork and communication skills
- Willingness to work in all weather conditions and overtime
