Responsibilities
- Construct, repair, and maintain roads, sidewalks, and public facilities
- Operate heavy machinery including backhoes, loaders, and street sweepers
- Perform excavation, grading, and asphalt work with precision
- Ensure compliance with OSHA safety protocols and city regulations
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams on infrastructure projects
- Manage material inventory and equipment maintenance
- Respond to emergency public works repairs as needed
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent required
- Valid Illinois Commercial Driver's License (CDL Class B)
- Minimum 2 years construction/public works experience
- OSHA 10-hour construction certification
- Ability to lift 50+ pounds and work in extreme weather
- Basic knowledge of blueprint reading and surveying
- Strong problem-solving and communication skills
- Clean background check and drug-free certification
