Responsibilities
- Perform manual labor tasks including road maintenance, drainage system upkeep, and park facility repairs
- Operate light machinery (e.g., jackhammers, tampers, street sweepers) with proper safety protocols
- Assist in traffic control during public works projects using cones and signage
- Conduct routine inspections of public infrastructure and report maintenance needs
- Support emergency response efforts during weather-related incidents
- Maintain clean and organized work sites per city regulations
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent (GED)
- Valid New Mexico driver's license with clean driving record
- Ability to lift 50+ pounds and perform physically demanding tasks in outdoor conditions
- Basic knowledge of construction tools and safety procedures
- Ability to work flexible schedules including weekends and holidays during emergencies
- Pass pre-employment physical and background check
- Preferred: 1+ years of public works or construction experience
