Responsibilities
- Operate heavy machinery (backhoes, dump trucks, graders) for excavation and grading projects
- Perform manual labor including paving, concrete work, and storm drain installation
- Conduct routine inspections and maintenance of public infrastructure
- Adhere to OSHA safety protocols and environmental regulations
- Assist in emergency response during severe weather events
- Maintain accurate records of daily operations and materials usage
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams on large-scale municipal projects
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent required
- Valid Virginia driver's license with clean record
- OSHA 10-hour construction certification preferred
- Ability to lift 50+ pounds and work in extreme weather conditions
- Experience with hand/power tools and construction equipment
- Basic understanding of blueprint reading and site plans
- Strong commitment to workplace safety and teamwork
- Ability to pass pre-employment physical and background check
