Responsibilities
- Perform heavy manual labor including excavation, grading, and paving operations
- Operate and maintain heavy machinery (e.g., backhoes, dump trucks, street sweepers)
- Assist in road repair, sidewalk installation, and drainage system maintenance
- Conduct routine inspections of public facilities and report safety hazards
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams on infrastructure improvement projects
- Adhere to OSHA safety protocols and municipal regulations
- Maintain clean and organized job sites throughout operations
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent required
- Valid Alaska driver's license with clean record
- Minimum 2 years construction/public works experience preferred
- OSHA 10-hour certification (or willingness to obtain)
- Ability to lift 50+ pounds and work in extreme weather conditions
- Basic mechanical aptitude and equipment maintenance knowledge
- Strong teamwork and communication skills
- Alaska residency required at time of hire
