Responsibilities
- Perform manual labor for street maintenance, sewer repairs, and park infrastructure projects
- Operate heavy machinery including backhoes, excavators, and asphalt compactors
- Assist in stormwater management and snow removal operations
- Conduct routine inspections of public facilities and report hazards
- Collaborate with cross-departmental teams on city improvement initiatives
- Maintain accurate work records and safety documentation
- Adhere to OSHA standards and city safety protocols
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent (GED) required
- Valid Illinois Class B Commercial Driver's License (CDL)
- Minimum 2 years of construction or public works experience
- OSHA 10-Hour Construction certification preferred
- Ability to lift 50+ pounds and work in extreme weather conditions
- Basic knowledge of blueprints and construction materials
- Must pass background check and drug screening
- Residency in Chicago required within 6 months of hire
