Responsibilities
- Perform routine maintenance and repairs on municipal roads, sidewalks, and drainage systems
- Operate heavy machinery including dump trucks, graders, and asphalt equipment
- Assist in stormwater management projects and erosion control initiatives
- Respond to citizen service requests and perform park/green space upkeep
- Collaborate with cross-departmental teams for infrastructure development
- Adhere to OSHA safety protocols and environmental regulations
- Participate in emergency response during severe weather events
Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED equivalent required
- Valid North Carolina Class B Commercial Driver's License (CDL)
- Minimum 2 years experience in public works, construction, or related field
- OSHA 10-hour construction certification preferred
- Ability to operate heavy machinery with proficiency
- Strong physical stamina and ability to work in extreme weather conditions
- Basic knowledge of municipal infrastructure systems
- Pass pre-employment background check and drug screening
