Responsibilities
- Operate city-provided heavy machinery (excavators, loaders, graders) for infrastructure projects
- Perform manual labor including trenching, paving, and storm drain maintenance
- Conduct routine inspections of public works equipment and report malfunctions
- Adhere to OSHA safety protocols and city environmental standards
- Assist in emergency response during weather-related incidents
- Maintain accurate work logs and project documentation
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams on urban development initiatives
Qualifications
- Valid Oregon Class C driver's license (Class A/B preferred)
- Minimum 1 year construction or public works experience
- Certification in heavy equipment operation (or willingness to obtain)
- Ability to lift 50+ pounds and work in all weather conditions
- OSHA 10-hour construction certification (or equivalent)
- Basic knowledge of blueprint reading and surveying principles
- Pass pre-employment physical and drug screening
- Clean driving record with no DUI convictions
