Responsibilities
- Operate heavy machinery (backhoes, graders, dump trucks) for excavation and grading projects
- Perform manual labor including asphalt repair, snow removal, and drainage system maintenance
- Conduct daily safety inspections of equipment and job sites
- Collaborate with crew leads to execute municipal infrastructure plans
- Document work progress and material usage in daily logs
- Adhere to OSHA and municipal safety standards at all times
- Assist in emergency response during severe weather events
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent required
- Valid Alaska driver's license with clean record
- OSHA 10-hour construction certification preferred
- Ability to lift 50+ pounds repeatedly and work in extreme weather
- Basic mechanical knowledge for equipment troubleshooting
- Experience with hand/power tools and heavy machinery operation
- Ability to pass pre-employment physical and background check
- Willingness to obtain commercial driver's license within 90 days
