Responsibilities
- Perform routine maintenance on city streets, sidewalks, and drainage systems
- Operate heavy machinery (excavators, loaders, graders) with proper safety protocols
- Assist in construction projects including road resurfacing and bridge repairs
- Manage snow removal and ice control during winter emergencies
- Conduct inspections of public infrastructure and report maintenance needs
- Maintain organized equipment storage and safety compliance zones
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent (GED)
- Valid Illinois Class B Commercial Driver's License (CDL)
- Minimum 2 years construction/public works experience
- OSHA 10-hour construction certification required
- Ability to lift 50+ lbs and work in extreme weather conditions
- Pass pre-employment physical and drug screening
- Basic knowledge of traffic control and flagging procedures
