We are seeking a reliable and hardworking Public Works Laborer to join our dedicated team in Colorado Springs. As a vital part of the City’s infrastructure maintenance and public safety operations, you will play a key role in ensuring our streets, parks, and facilities remain safe and accessible for our community.
In this position, you will perform a variety of manual labor tasks essential to city operations. This includes snow and ice removal, street sweeping, graffiti abatement, and general maintenance of public right-of-ways. Responsibilities
- Perform manual labor tasks including snow plowing, salting, and ice removal during winter months.
- Operate and maintain light to medium duty equipment such as dump trucks, loaders, and sweepers.
- Conduct street sweeping and clean-up operations to maintain neighborhood aesthetics and safety.
- Assist in traffic control and flagging duties during road construction or maintenance projects.
- Perform graffiti removal and general maintenance on public facilities and structures.
- Load and unload construction materials and equipment as needed.
- Maintain a clean and safe work area, adhering to all OSHA safety standards.
Qualifications
- High School Diploma or GED equivalent required.
- Valid Colorado Class C Driver’s License with a clean driving record.
- Ability to perform heavy physical labor, including lifting up to 50 lbs, standing for long periods, and working in various weather conditions.
- Basic mechanical knowledge or experience with light equipment is a plus.
- Must pass a post-offer physical examination and drug screen.
- Willingness to work rotating shifts, overtime, and holidays as required.
- Strong commitment to public service and safety protocols.
