Responsibilities
- Perform daily snow removal and ice control operations on streets, sidewalks, and alleys during winter months.
- Collect and dispose of residential and commercial trash, recycling, and bulk items according to city schedules.
- Maintain public rights-of-way, including pothole repair, road sweeping, and graffiti removal.
- Operate light to medium duty vehicles, such as dump trucks, salt spreaders, and front-end loaders.
- Assist in traffic control and flagging duties during road construction or maintenance projects.
- Ensure job sites are clean, organized, and free of safety hazards.
- Communicate effectively with supervisors and fellow crew members.
Qualifications
- Valid Driver's License: Must possess a valid Michigan Class C Driver's License with a clean driving record.
- Physical Stamina: Ability to perform strenuous physical labor, including lifting up to 50 lbs repeatedly, standing for long periods, and working in various weather conditions.
- Experience: Prior experience in construction, landscaping, or municipal public works is highly preferred but not strictly required.
- Teamwork: Ability to work collaboratively within a crew environment.
- Equipment Operation: Willingness to learn and operate municipal equipment and tools.
- Availability: Must be available to work early mornings, nights, weekends, and holidays as needed.
