Responsibilities
- Equipment Operation: Safely operate and maintain heavy equipment such as dump trucks, backhoes, skid steers, and loaders.
- Road Maintenance: Perform grading, paving, patching, and pothole repair on city streets.
- Drainage Management: Clean storm drains, catch basins, and ditches to ensure proper water flow and prevent flooding.
- General Labor: Assist with excavation, compaction, and general site cleanup during construction projects.
- Traffic Control: Set up and monitor traffic signage and flagging operations to ensure worker and public safety.
- Material Handling: Load and unload construction materials, tools, and equipment efficiently.
Qualifications
- Education: High School Diploma or GED preferred.
- License: Valid North Carolina Driver's License required.
- Experience: Previous experience in construction, landscaping, or public works is highly desirable.
- Physical Requirements: Ability to lift up to 50 lbs, stand for long periods, and work in various weather conditions.
- Skills: Basic knowledge of construction safety standards (OSHA) is a plus.
