Responsibilities
- Operate heavy machinery and equipment, including dump trucks, backhoes, and skid steers, under direct supervision.
- Perform manual labor tasks such as excavation, grading, paving, and trenching.
- Maintain and repair city streets, sidewalks, and drainage systems to ensure public safety.
- Assist with snow and ice removal operations during the winter season.
- Clear catch basins, storm drains, and right-of-ways to prevent flooding.
- Load and unload construction materials, tools, and equipment safely and efficiently.
- Collaborate with skilled tradespeople and other laborers on various public projects.
Qualifications
- High School Diploma or GED equivalent preferred.
- Ability to pass a pre-employment physical examination and drug screen.
- Valid Class C Driver’s License with a clean driving record.
- Willingness to work outdoors in all weather conditions, including extreme heat and cold.
- Basic mechanical aptitude and understanding of general safety protocols.
- Strong work ethic, reliability, and the ability to work effectively as part of a team.
- Must be able to lift heavy objects (up to 50 lbs) repeatedly throughout the shift.
