Responsibilities
- Operate heavy machinery (excavators, loaders, graders) for construction and maintenance projects
- Perform manual labor including excavation, grading, paving, and debris removal
- Install and repair public utilities (water lines, storm drains, traffic signals)
- Maintain parks, sidewalks, and public spaces with seasonal landscaping and snow removal
- Adhere to OSHA safety protocols and departmental maintenance standards
- Complete daily equipment inspections and maintenance logs
- Collaborate with supervisors and crews to meet project deadlines
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent (GED)
- Valid Nebraska Commercial Driver's License (Class A or B)
- Minimum 2 years of construction/public works experience
- OSHA 10-hour construction certification preferred
- Ability to lift 50+ pounds and perform physically demanding tasks
- Basic mechanical knowledge for equipment operation and troubleshooting
- Pass background check and pre-employment physical
- Strong teamwork ethic and reliability
