Responsibilities
- Perform manual labor tasks including excavation, material handling, and equipment operation
- Assist in construction and maintenance of roads, bridges, and public facilities
- Operate heavy machinery safely (excavators, loaders, dump trucks) with proper certification
- Follow OSHA safety protocols and maintain clean job sites
- Collaborate with engineers and skilled trades on complex infrastructure projects
- Document work progress and maintain equipment logs
- Respond to emergency public works situations as needed
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent required
- Valid Class B CDL license with airbrake endorsement
- Minimum 2 years construction/public works experience
- OSHA 10-hour construction certification mandatory
- Ability to lift 50+ pounds and work in extreme weather conditions
- Strong mechanical aptitude and equipment maintenance knowledge
- NYC residency preferred (Local Law 49)
- Pass background check and drug screening
