Responsibilities
- Perform manual labor tasks, including excavation, material hauling, and debris removal on city streets and right-of-ways.
- Operate and maintain heavy and light machinery, such as dump trucks, loaders, and jackhammers, ensuring safety protocols are followed.
- Assist in the installation, maintenance, and repair of storm drains, catch basins, and underground utilities.
- Perform traffic control duties, including flagging and setting up signage, to ensure worker and public safety.
- Clear snow and ice from roads, sidewalks, and public parking areas during inclement weather events.
- Conduct daily inspections of work sites to identify hazards and ensure compliance with OSHA and City safety regulations.
- Communicate effectively with supervisors and team members regarding project status and technical requirements.
Qualifications
- High School Diploma or GED equivalent is preferred.
- Possession of a valid Texas Class C Driver's License is required.
- Physical ability to perform strenuous outdoor work in various weather conditions (heat, cold, rain).
- Ability to lift and carry heavy objects weighing up to 50 lbs repeatedly throughout the shift.
- Basic knowledge of construction tools and safety equipment is a plus.
- Must be willing to work overtime and weekends as needed for emergency repairs and city projects.
