Responsibilities
- Perform manual labor tasks including excavation, paving, and debris removal for municipal infrastructure projects
- Operate heavy machinery such as backhoes, dump trucks, and street sweepers under proper supervision
- Conduct routine inspections and maintenance of public spaces, parks, and storm drainage systems
- Adhere to OSHA safety protocols while maintaining clean and organized job sites
- Assist in emergency response operations during severe weather events or public safety incidents
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure timely project completion and quality standards
- Complete accurate documentation and reporting for daily activities and material usage
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent required; technical certification in construction or maintenance preferred
- Minimum 2 years of experience in construction, landscaping, or public works labor
- Valid New Jersey Commercial Driver's License (Class B) or ability to obtain within 90 days
- OSHA 10-hour construction certification or willingness to obtain upon hire
- Ability to lift up to 75 pounds and perform physically demanding tasks in various weather conditions
- Proficient in basic hand/power tools and heavy equipment operation
- Strong commitment to workplace safety and environmental stewardship
- Must pass pre-employment background check and drug screening
