Responsibilities
- Operate Heavy Machinery: Safely and efficiently operate backhoes, rollers, asphalt pavers, and other heavy construction equipment as trained.
- Paving & Asphalt Work: Assist in paving projects, including preparing surfaces, laying asphalt, and performing compaction work.
- Maintenance & Repairs: Perform general maintenance on public roads, sidewalks, and drainage systems, including pothole repair and crack sealing.
- Snow Removal: Assist in seasonal snow and ice removal operations during inclement weather to ensure public safety.
- Safety Compliance: Adhere strictly to all OSHA safety regulations, wear appropriate PPE, and maintain a clean work site.
- Equipment Operation: Load and unload materials, and assist in the operation of dump trucks and skid steers.
Qualifications
- Education: High School Diploma or GED required.
- Experience: Previous experience in construction, paving, or public works is highly preferred.
- Physical Requirements: Ability to perform heavy physical labor, including lifting up to 50 lbs, standing for long periods, and working in various weather conditions.
- License: Valid Driverβs License required; CDL Class A or B is a strong plus.
- Skills: Basic knowledge of construction tools and equipment; ability to read basic blueprints or schematics is a plus.
- Reliability: Must be punctual, dependable, and able to work as part of a team.
