Responsibilities
- Street Maintenance: Assist in the sweeping, cleaning, and maintenance of streets, sidewalks, and alleys throughout Oakland.
- Heavy Lifting: Load and unload construction materials, tools, and equipment; move heavy objects as directed.
- Equipment Operation: Operate light to medium motorized equipment, such as brooms, vacuums, and pavement breakers, under supervision.
- Infrastructure Support: Assist skilled tradespeople with general maintenance tasks, including painting, graffiti removal, and traffic control sign maintenance.
- Snow Removal: Participate in snow and ice removal operations during inclement weather to ensure public safety.
- Site Cleanup: Maintain job sites in a clean, organized, and safe manner, adhering to all OSHA safety regulations.
Qualifications
- Age Requirement: Must be at least 18 years of age.
- Driver's License: Possession of a valid California Driver's License (Class C) is required.
- Physical Stamina: Ability to perform physical labor for extended periods, including lifting up to 50 pounds and standing/walking on various surfaces.
- Background Check: Must be able to pass a post-offer physical examination and a drug screen.
- Education: High School Diploma or GED is preferred; equivalent work experience will be considered.
- Attendance: Must possess a good work history and reliability.
