Responsibilities
- Operate city-provided heavy machinery including excavators, loaders, and snow removal equipment
- Perform routine maintenance on public roads, sidewalks, and drainage systems
- Assist in construction projects including bridge repairs and utility installations
- Conduct daily equipment inspections and report maintenance needs
- Adhere to strict OSHA safety protocols during all operations
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams for efficient project completion
- Document daily work activities and material usage
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent required
- Valid Alaska driver's license with clean record
- Ability to operate heavy machinery (training provided for qualified candidates)
- Physical capability to lift 50+ pounds and work in extreme weather conditions
- Basic knowledge of construction tools and safety procedures
- Ability to pass pre-employment physical and drug screening
- Willingness to obtain municipal equipment certifications
- 1+ years of construction or public works experience preferred
