Responsibilities
- Operate and maintain city-provided heavy machinery (excavators, graders, compaction equipment)
- Perform manual labor for infrastructure projects including road repairs, park maintenance, and utility work
- Conduct daily equipment inspections and report maintenance needs
- Adhere to OSHA safety protocols while working with provided tools
- Collaborate with crews on site preparation, grading, and material handling
- Assist in emergency response during weather-related public works incidents
- Document work progress and material usage using provided digital systems
Qualifications
- Valid Oregon driver's license with clean record
- Ability to operate heavy machinery (training provided for all equipment)
- Physical capability to lift 50+ lbs and work in varied weather conditions
- High school diploma or equivalent
- OSHA 10-hour construction certification (or willingness to obtain)
- Basic math skills for material calculations
- Ability to pass pre-employment physical and background check
