Responsibilities
- Operate and maintain city-provided heavy machinery including excavators, graders, and dump trucks
- Perform manual labor for road repair, drainage systems, and public landscaping
- Conduct daily equipment inspections and report maintenance needs
- Follow strict safety protocols for equipment operation and site management
- Assist in emergency storm response and infrastructure recovery projects
- Collaborate with crew members on task prioritization and workflow efficiency
- Document work progress and material usage in digital reporting systems
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent required
- Valid New Mexico driver's license with clean driving record
- OSHA 10-hour construction certification preferred
- Experience with heavy machinery operation (backhoes, loaders, etc.)
- Ability to lift 50+ pounds and perform physically demanding tasks
- Basic knowledge of construction materials and safety standards
- Willingness to work in various weather conditions and flexible hours
- Pass pre-employment background check and drug screening
