Responsibilities
- Operate and maintain city-provided heavy machinery (excavators, loaders, graders)
- Perform road maintenance, snow removal, and drainage system repairs
- Conduct daily equipment inspections and basic troubleshooting
- Assist in construction projects including grading, paving, and utility work
- Follow strict safety protocols for equipment operation and site management
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams on public infrastructure initiatives
- Document work activities and maintain equipment maintenance logs
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent required
- Valid Alaska driver's license with clean driving record
- Ability to pass DOT physical and drug screening
- Basic mechanical aptitude and equipment maintenance knowledge
- Physical stamina to perform manual labor in extreme weather conditions
- OSHA 10-hour construction certification preferred
- Ability to work rotating shifts including weekends and emergencies
- Strong commitment to workplace safety and environmental compliance
