Responsibilities
- Operate and maintain city-provided heavy equipment (excavators, loaders, graders) for infrastructure projects
- Perform manual labor including excavation, grading, and material handling as directed
- Conduct routine inspections of public works sites and report maintenance needs
- Adhere to OSHA safety protocols and environmental compliance standards
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams on road maintenance and public facility projects
- Assist in emergency response for public works incidents during non-working hours
- Maintain accurate work logs and equipment usage records
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent required
- Valid California Driver's License with clean driving record
- OSHA 10-hour Construction certification preferred
- Ability to operate heavy machinery with proper training (equipment provided)
- Physical stamina to perform manual labor in varying weather conditions
- Basic knowledge of construction materials and safety procedures
- Pass pre-employment drug screening and background check
- Ability to lift up to 50 pounds regularly
