Responsibilities
- Operate and maintain city-provided heavy equipment (excavators, loaders, graders) for infrastructure projects
- Perform manual labor including excavation, grading, and material handling for roads/sidewalks
- Conduct routine inspections and preventative maintenance on assigned equipment
- Adhere to strict safety protocols while working in public spaces and construction zones
- Assist in stormwater management and erosion control initiatives
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to meet project deadlines
- Document work activities and maintain equipment logs
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent required
- Valid Minnesota driver's license with clean record
- Ability to operate heavy machinery (training provided for city equipment)
- Physical stamina for outdoor work in varying weather conditions
- Basic understanding of construction safety standards (OSHA knowledge preferred)
- Ability to lift 50+ pounds and perform repetitive motions
- Willingness to obtain required certifications (city-sponsored)
- Strong teamwork and communication skills
