Responsibilities
- Perform manual labor in construction, maintenance, and repair of city infrastructure including roads, sidewalks, and drainage systems
- Operate light machinery such as jackhammers, saws, and compactors under proper supervision
- Assist in traffic control and safety setup for work zones using proper signage and barricades
- Collect and dispose of waste materials, debris, and hazardous substances according to EPA standards
- Conduct routine inspections of public facilities and report maintenance needs to supervisors
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure project timelines and quality standards are met
- Maintain accurate records of work performed, materials used, and time spent on tasks
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent with 1+ years of construction or maintenance experience preferred
- Valid Texas Class C Driver's License with clean driving record
- Ability to lift up to 50 pounds and perform physically demanding tasks in various weather conditions
- OSHA 10-hour construction certification or willingness to obtain within 30 days
- Basic proficiency with hand tools and power equipment (training provided)
- Strong commitment to workplace safety protocols and procedures
- Flexibility to work evenings, weekends, and on-call shifts as needed
- Ability to pass pre-employment physical and background check
