Responsibilities
- Perform general maintenance, cleaning, and repair of public streets, sidewalks, and parks.
- Operate light to medium heavy equipment, including dump trucks, backhoes, and asphalt pavers.
- Assist with snow and ice removal during inclement weather to ensure public safety.
- Set up and maintain traffic control devices and flagging operations for construction zones.
- Load and unload construction materials and debris from trucks and haulers.
- Inspect public property for hazards, code violations, or maintenance needs.
- Respond to emergency requests and perform manual labor as needed by the department.
Qualifications
- High School Diploma or GED equivalent.
- Valid Class C Texas Driver’s License with a satisfactory driving record.
- Physical ability to perform heavy manual labor for extended periods, including lifting 50+ lbs.
- Ability to pass a pre-employment drug screen and background check.
- Basic knowledge of construction and maintenance tools and equipment.
- Willingness to work in various weather conditions, including extreme heat and cold.
