Responsibilities
- Perform manual labor tasks including excavation, grading, and material handling for public infrastructure projects
- Operate light machinery (backhoes, dump trucks, sweepers) and hand tools safely per OSHA standards
- Assist in asphalt/concrete repair, sidewalk installation, and stormwater system maintenance
- Conduct daily site inspections, document progress, and report safety hazards to supervisors
- Support traffic control operations during road maintenance and construction projects
- Participate in emergency response activities during weather events or infrastructure failures
- Maintain equipment cleanliness and perform basic preventative maintenance checks
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent required; technical certification preferred
- Valid Texas Class C Driver's License with clean driving record
- Ability to lift 50+ pounds and perform strenuous physical activity in varying weather conditions
- OSHA 10-hour construction certification or willingness to obtain within 30 days
- Experience with construction/maintenance tools (shovels, saws, jackhammers) preferred
- Basic knowledge of blueprint reading and surveying equipment
- Ability to work flexible hours including nights/weekends for emergency response
- Pass pre-employment physical and background check
